Indian Vacuum Society (IVS) was established in 1970 to promote vacuum science and technology in academic, industrial and R&D institutions in India.  IVS is a member of  International Union of Vacuum Science, Techniques and Applications (IUVSTA) and its various committees. It has been organizing International and national symposia, short term courses and workshops on different aspects of Vacuum Science & Technology at regular intervals. So far 26 National symposia, 3 International Symposia and 42 courses have been organized at various locations in India. There has been an active participation from R & D establishments, universities and Indian industry during all these events. In view of the current global scenario and emerging trends in vacuum technology, executive committee of IVS felt it appropriate to organize an international symposium at Homi Bhabha Auditorium, TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai, India during November 28-30, 2007

Objective

The main objective of this conference is to deliberate on the developments in all aspects of the Vacuum Science, Vacuum technology and applications to the related areas. It will provide an opportunity for interaction to active researchers and technologists to review the current scenario, report recent results, share the available expertise and consider the future research and development directions in this area. A souvenir and an exhibition of the vacuum related equipments will also be organized along with the symposium.

Scope

The topics to be discussed in the conference are as follows

Large Vacuum Systems:

Particle Accelerators

Space Simulation Systems

Plasma Fusion devices etc…

1.      Vacuum Technology:

Production of low, medium, high, ultra high and extreme high vacuum

Vacuum Measurement

Leak Detection

2.      Vacuum Metallurgy:

Vacuum Evaporation, hard coatings and Thin Films

                  Vacuum Brazing, Welding, melting

Contribution

Contributions to any of the above should include the title., author(s), affiliation(s), address including email address and a single page A4 size single space Arial Font 10, abstract. The abstract should be submitted to Convener , International Organising Committee in electronic form (Text or Microsoft Word format) Through email or on CD .
